Ingenious Brewing Company

I have had the pleasure of visiting Ingenious Brewing Company a few times since they opened in March 2018.

My first encounter with the brewery was when my husband and I had a combined Bachelor/Bachelorette party there shortly after it opened in April 2018. We were on a brewery crawl for the occasion, so we caravanned there with a handful of our friends and indulged in playing a couple of the games that were available on site while we enjoyed our drinks.

Almost all of the beers were over 6% ABV, with many being over 8%. It is difficult to remember which beers we had that day, but the two that stood out were the Peanut Butter vs. Jelly Porter and the Blueberry Crumble Stout. That Blueberry Crumble was so good, we ended up buying a 4pk. of cans to take home with us.

In July of 2018, Ingenious Brewing was officially the first Texas brewery to acquire a machine that would make a frozen beer topper. Basically, it turned any beer into a creamy soft serve ice cream consistency without adding ice, sugar, or cream. This can be added on top of any beer pour to create a dynamic flavor combination and keep your beer cool. Pretty innovative and exciting stuff for the brewery!

Most recently, I was there for their Fat Tuesday party yesterday. The venue was decorated for Mardi Gras, with beads and masks scattered about the tables for people to wear, and there was homemade King Cake cut into slices and free to anyone who wanted a piece. My primary reason for attending was to try their Bourbon Barrel-Aged King Cake Stout.

It was everything I had hoped for and more. Rich and creamy with only the slightest bite from the bourbon barrel aging. It did not taste like you were drinking a beer that was 12.5% ABV, but it, in fact, was. I sipped on it slowly, enjoying every taste.

My next beer was the Vanilla Coffee Cream Ale that I added a Coconut Cream Ale frozen beer topper to. This was my first experience with the topper since the brewery debuted it in July. I absolutely loved the consistency and flavor blend that the topper added and will definitely be experimenting with other combinations as they rotate the topper flavors.

As it was Tuesday, the brewery had trivia scheduled that evening and I figured I’d give it a shot for the chance to win a gift card to the brewery.

I struggled through a couple of the rounds, commiserating with a fellow lone player at the bar. We laughed at the ridiculousness of some of our answers to questions we didn’t know and were incredulous to hear some of the answers we should have known. After 5 rounds of fluctuating scores, I ended up winning 2nd place and receiving a $25 gift card.

The bartenders were amazing and I could not have asked for better surrounding company. Even when I come alone it doesn’t feel like it. I ended my night with a Chocolate Hazelnut Latte Stout. I even got one in a crowler to take home…mostly for the awesome crowler koozie.

Ingenious Brewing Company is always worth the trip.

Cheers!
