About the Brewery
Roatan Island Brewing Co. is a gorgeous and quaint brewery hidden in the tropical jungle of the Palmetto Valley in Roatan, Honduras. My husband and I went as part of an excursion booked through our Royal Caribbean cruise. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner and brewer who went through the list of brews they had available for us to choose from.

There was something for everyone, including apple cider, kombucha, and house-made sodas for those who are gluten-free or looking for a non-alcoholic option. You could even combine beer styles with sodas, juices, or other beers for an entirely new flavor profile.
The taproom was adorned with St. Patrick’s Day decorations for the upcoming holiday, and the food menu featured many Irish specialties like corned beef and cabbage, Irish nachos, and Irish Car Bomb cupcakes. Frequently seen within the brewing community, stickers from breweries worldwide covered the bar, boasting a common interest and international comradery. I left one of my own as a shout-out to a beer-loving group in Houston, TX.

After each ordering our selective flights, we were treated to some bar snacks, followed by a lively and informative presentation about the origin of the brewery, and how they brew their unique and flavorful beverages. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere contributed to the island vibes of this beautiful establishment.

I enjoyed all of the beers, but I especially liked the White IPA. It was crisp and refreshing while yielding citrus and hoppy notes. With the little time we had remaining before heading back to the ship, I ordered a full pour of the White IPA to take with me and savor on the road.

Where to Find Roatan Island Beer
Outside of the main tap room where all of the brewing takes place, delicious Roatan Island beer can be found throughout the island including West Bay, Coxen Hole, French Harbour, and even all the way out in Camp Bay. In case you can’t make it out to the brewery, check out these locations to try locally made craft beer and support a local business.

Overall, the excursion was a great experience, but I wish we had more time to explore the grounds of the brewery, try more of the amazing food, and indulge in the amazing brews and environment. I fully intend on returning to the brewery on a future trip without the confines of a time-sensitive group tour. Until next time, Roatan Island Brewing Co.
Cheers!
